New 2027 Edition
Dear brothers and sisters, peace in the Lord! Welcome to our "One Year Whole Bible" series.
Today, we will read 2 John, 3 John, Jude, and Psalm 145.
When facing the impacts of worldly mindsets, subtle deceptions, or spiritual exhaustion in our daily walk, we deeply need spiritual vigilance and strength to keep our foundation secure.
The epistles of 2 John, 3 John, and Jude present vital warnings and passionate encouragements for the believer. Apostle John urges the church to walk both in truth and love, guarding against deceivers and antichrist teachings, while praising those who hospitably support fellow workers in the truth. Jude utters an urgent call to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints, instructing us to build ourselves up on our most holy faith, pray in the Holy Ghost, and keep ourselves in the love of God. Psalm 145 is David's majestic hymn of praise, declaring that the Lord is great and greatly to be praised, slow to anger and rich in mercy, upholding all that fall and satisfying the desire of every living thing.
As we read today, let us reflect: Am I actively building my life upon the most holy faith? In my daily routine, do I rely on praying in the Holy Ghost to abide securely in God's love and experience His redeeming mercy?
Let us enter into His Word today with honest and expectant hearts.
1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
2 For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.
5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
13 The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
1 The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
5 Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;
6 Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:
7 Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.
9 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
10 Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
12 Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.
13 I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:
14 But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.
1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
2 Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.
3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
145 I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.
2 Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.
3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.
4 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.
5 I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.
6 And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness.
7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.
8 The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
9 The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
10 All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee.
11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;
12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.
13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.
14 The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.
15 The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.
16 Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.
17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.
18 The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.
19 He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.
20 The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.
21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.
Thank you for completing today's reading from 2 John, 3 John, Jude, and Psalms with us.
The apostles' earnest charges in truth and love, alongside David's majestic praise of God's power and tender mercies, continue to inspire and encourage every child of God today.
Now, let us quiet our hearts and meditate on today's daily key verse:
Jude 1:20–21 (KJV)
"But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life."
Writing to believers surrounded by ungodly influences and false teachers, Jude gives a priceless blueprint for spiritual growth and steadfastness.
To "build up yourselves on your most holy faith" means our spiritual life cannot remain stagnant; it must be continuously rooted in and strengthened by the sacred truth of God's Word. "Praying in the Holy Ghost" calls us to move beyond fleshly desires and align our prayers with the guidance of the Spirit in deep communion with God. "Keep yourselves in the love of God" reminds us that while God's love is unconditional and unchanging, we must actively guard our hearts against worldly contamination. Lastly, "looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ" points our focus to our ultimate hope and salvation unto eternal life. These four spiritual practices form an unshakable safeguard in a turbulent world.
Today's scripture instructs us in the vital blueprint of spiritual growth while calling us to magnify the Lord's supreme greatness and unfailing mercy. Let us draw near and pray together:
O Great King, Glorious, Righteous, Faithful, and Gracious Heavenly Father, we praise You!
Thank You for Your Word today, guiding us through 2 John, 3 John, Jude, and Psalm 145. Your word shines like a brilliant, warm beacon, illuminating our inner slowness while lifting our eyes to behold Your majestic majesty, abundant grace, and preserving power in truth.
Lord, in the Book of Jude, we hear Your urgent charge through Jude: "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life." Lord, the spiritual blueprint revealed in this key verse deeply moves us! Forgive us for so often neglecting a deep hunger for Your Word, and for praying out of human flesh and selfish desires rather than yielding to the Holy Ghost. Grant us hearts that thirst for truth, enabling us to build our daily lives upon Your holy Word, tune our hearts to pray in the Holy Ghost, and vigilantly keep ourselves abiding in Your love.
Lord, in 2 John and 3 John, You teach us through apostle John to walk in both truth and love—guarding against false teachers and antichrist deceptions while demonstrating warm hospitality to fellow laborers in the gospel. Lord, this balance of truth and love touches our hearts deeply! Forgive us for times when we compromised truth out of carelessness or lacked discernment against deception; forgive us also when we failed to show love and support to fellow believers. Grant us spiritual wisdom and abundant love, so that we may hold fast to the pure gospel while serving and building up Christ's body in practical unity.
In Psalm 145, You show us David praising Your greatness and abundant goodness with his whole heart. You are great and greatly to be praised; Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You are gracious, full of compassion, slow to anger, and of great mercy, satisfying the desires of every living thing and drawing near to all who call upon You. Lord, we so often focus on our lack and immediate problems, forgetting the daily mercies You shower upon us. Soften our hearts and open our lips so that like David, we may exalt Your power and goodness, praising Your name every day and declaring Your wondrous works to the generation to come.
Today, we also commit our dear family members, friends, and co-workers into Your hands. In a world full of confusing mindsets, moral compromises, and false doctrines, many are facing spiritual doubt, inner emptiness, or confusion. Lord, let Your Holy Ghost enlighten their hearts through today's scripture to see the preciousness of Your holy faith. Guide them out of worldly distraction so that their lives may be firmly rooted in the love and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We bring this restless and broken world before You as well. Nations and cultures continue to drift away from divine truth, embracing pride and moral decay. Lord, have mercy on this generation and stretch forth Your strong hand to protect Your people. Raise up Your church to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints, standing firm in Holy Ghost power and love, holding high the name of Jesus Christ, and drawing lost souls into Your eternal kingdom.
Hear our prayer, guide our steps today, grant us peaceful rest tonight, and empower us tomorrow to walk triumphantly in the truth of Your Word and the fullness of the Holy Ghost.
In the name of Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
