Loving Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom You give us in Proverbs Chapter 4. Your Word urges us, “Get wisdom, get understanding,” and reminds us not to forget or turn away from Your instruction. Lord, we confess that we often give our best attention to work, responsibilities, plans, and worries, while treating Your wisdom as something we can return to later. Awaken in us a deeper desire for Your truth. Help us treasure Your Word more than quick answers, popular opinions, or our own experience. When life feels confusing, teach us to seek Your wisdom before we rush into decisions.

You also tell us, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” You know everything we carry inside—the fears we hide, the disappointments we replay, the comparisons that steal our peace, and the thoughts that slowly shape our attitudes. Lord, guard our hearts from bitterness, jealousy, pride, and discouragement. Help us notice what we are allowing to remain within us. Fill our hearts with truth, gratitude, purity, and compassion, so that our words, reactions, and relationships may reflect Your grace.

This chapter calls us to “ponder the path of thy feet” and to turn neither to the right hand nor to the left. Protect the hearts of children and young people from harmful influences, unhealthy comparisons, and voices that make darkness appear desirable. Give parents, teachers, pastors, and mentors patience and wisdom to guide them with both truth and love.

We also pray for our world. Many people are walking in darkness without recognizing where their choices will lead. Lord, bring Your light into homes, schools, workplaces, governments, and communities. Guard people’s hearts from hatred, greed, deception, and violence. Raise up leaders who will ponder their paths carefully, refuse crooked ways, and choose what is just and good. May Your church walk clearly in the way of righteousness, helping others see the light that comes from following You.
